Anna Bellatrix Brothers

Anna was born at 12:56 PM, weighing 7 lb 6 oz while being 19 inches tall. She's beautiful and healthy. Mother and daughter are resting comfortably. (Nicole met Anna ~4 hours after birth, and as I type this is being shown how to breastfeed, sort of a refresher after Henry.)

So dang cute it hurts.

Dubai

First thing that needs to be said is that the comments made by several of my coowrkers, namely that pok in dubai is a myth, is erroneous. At a minimum, the large English supermarket at the dubai mall had a pork rooom, stocking raw pork, various salamis, and things with lard like pptarts. This would seem to implly that with a bit more effort, a restaurant that served this magical meat could be found.

It should also be noted that this palce is terrible for Nicoles self esteem and magnificient for mine, especially at the beach. A substantial fraction of the ladies here are around 50 kg or 110 pounds, while most off the guys look like me, if I was covered in thick hair and wearing a speedo. My wife is the one great love of my life, and objectively attactive besides, but no woman feels like a stunner when 5 months along, so this comparison isnt great for her.

Readers should also note that attempting to mollify a pregnant woman with the statement "dont worry, i have no interest in trading up" are doomed to failure.

Henry loves the beach, and swimming with him is a blast.

Long version of a facebook update.

I have been thinking a lot about faith and location. I know a lot of profoundly Christian people back in the US, including an old buddy of mine who displays what I think of as the deep peace of a comforting faith. I also have a co-worker and friend in Qatar who exhibits that same solid comfort in his life due to Islam. It seems to me that if they had been reversed in birthplace, they would have grown up the same, quieted and faithful, but in the other religion. I have no idea whether this means that one should simply believe in SOMETHING, as it makes you a better person, or whether the cultural dependence of religion can be judged as evidence that it is just superstition. It is quite troubling.
